Also the lighting tended to be mostly red and blacklit for Deer Tick, while it was all over the place for Dr. Dog, with a ton of strobe action.<br /><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3362/4612605495_f5be5499a9.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br /><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4065/4616215912_a130128d15.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br /><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4021/4616215846_693b6247bb.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br /><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4016/4613220402_d057763389.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br /><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3392/4616215762_ebd97df6e9.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br /><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4015/4616216036_b7bdb3cdaa.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br /><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3337/4616216188_ee328c6513.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br /><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3578/4615601491_5a003eca10.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br /><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4027/4615601229_7cb44f59d7_o.jpg" alt="" border="0" />gordonjerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01158598175171504955noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1091186931753523436.post-71271227533564161172009-11-06T09:56:00.001-08:002009-11-06T09:57:11.850-08:00Blues Traveler at The Filmore New York at Irving PlazaSo on Wednesday I had the opportunity to shoot Blues Traveler at Irving Plaza. Honestly it was my first time seeing them since they opened for the Rolling Stones on the Bridges to Babylon Tour. Decent show and a nice crowd (especially considering Game 6 of the World Series going on)<br />For highlights they played Sublime's, "What I've Got", Cheap Trick's "I Want You to Want Me" and their own Hook, The Mountains Win Again, But Anyway, and of course Run-Around.<br />The lighting on the band was excellent, although there was always more on John Popper, so I had to adjust while shooting during the concert and in photoshop later on. Probably the highlight for me, was having a photo pit at Irving Plaza for the first time and we got 6 songs before I got the boot! Oh my god, it was fantastic, now if only the Bowery does one two, I'll be in Heaven.<br />Settings ranged from 1/250 up to 1/400 of a second with an ISO between 1000-1600.<br /><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2748/4078583973_d471beec45.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br /><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2606/4078439810_dc4dea85b9.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br /><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2475/4078583951_2a042cac0a.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br /><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2736/4077755729_779d75ff35.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br /><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2625/4078583923_bf65640290.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br /><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2674/4079341506_6463a3ebf8.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br /><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2762/4079341406_dab4497f24.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br /><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2751/4078584087_35ff885eb6.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br /><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3500/4078584069_b261d9a83b.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br /><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3479/4078583905_4559d8164d.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br />.<br />jambands.com already ran a post on it, using one of my shots with Jamie McLean<br /><a href="http://www.jambands.com/news/2009/11/05/jamie-mclean-joins-blues-traveler-in-new-york/" target="_blank">http://www.jambands.com/news/2009/11...r-in-new-york/</a><br />.<br />and there should be a post up at some point on Hidden Track.<br />.<br />btw has anyone ever heard of Falu? She sat in with the band as well. She's an traditional Indian singer, I've never heard of her, but she's got photos on her myspace page with DJ Logic, George Porter, Bernie Worrell, Adam Deitch, and Widespread Panic.<br />So she's obviously on the edge of the scene...gordonjerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01158598175171504955noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1091186931753523436.post-53945391713170620262009-10-26T14:53:00.001-07:002009-10-26T14:59:03.973-07:00Railroad Earth and Yonder Mountain String Band at the Nokia Times SquareSo Saturday night was a wee bit busy in NYC. I was asked at the last minute to help out a reviewer with a shoot from RRE and YMSB at the Nokia in Times Square. But of course the list is closed and so I had to be put on as a +1, which would have been fine, but the reviewer was late getting there and of course, there was no +1 errrr. So I snagged a few shots from the crowd of RRE, walked around and talekd to a few people and then waited for YMSB. Luckily the lighting was great for them and there was only 2 other people in the pit, making it easy to move around. These are all shot at 1600iso and 1/250 2.8. In retrospect, I probably could have undershot them a bit more and gotten more detail but oh well.<br />Railroad Earth<br /><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2482/4025457791_c1f29bbdbf.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br /><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2633/4025457821_29d3d3dcf5.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br /><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2486/4026210036_a784019925.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br /><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2580/4026210058_d5b5c1870b.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br />.<br />Yonder Mountain String Band<br /><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2787/4026225013_263a43c027.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br /><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2560/4026385388_96c45f16b3.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br /><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2746/4026385298_f429821c3c.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br /><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2686/4026385414_299c99e553.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br /><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2753/4026978206_c50d0e9a75.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br /><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2787/4026225013_263a43c027.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br /><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2614/4025631903_240f84bafe.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br /><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2600/4026385232_d8b0ecd04e.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br /><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2572/4026978240_9d31d1113e.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br /><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2449/4026385326_3ce055da55.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br />.<br />then after the first set it was off to U-Melt at Sullivan Hall. Which was fun and I'll have some shots from that soon. Unfortunately I missed the 2nd set sit-ins, but oh well that happens.<br />.<br />Also during the evening of highs (some good shots) and lows (super frustration of waiting outside for 45 mins and not having a ticket waiting)<br />I got a fantastic email from the editor of Relix. So fingers crossed <img src="http://gatheringofthevibes.com/forum/images/smilies/Classics/V.gif" alt="" title="V" class="inlineimg" border="0" /> and we'll see where that leads....gordonjerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01158598175171504955noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1091186931753523436.post-28899375638457825022009-10-23T07:19:00.000-07:002009-10-23T07:25:29.891-07:00The Disco Biscuits come to BrooklynSo back to Brooklyn Bowl on Sunday for the Disco Biscuits<br />.<br />The show started a bit later than we hoped for, plus there was a "rumor" the 600 person venue had sold around 800 tickets, due to a mistake, so the place was packed to the gills. Definitely a solid first set, but I think more than a few people ran out of gas by the end of the night. Shooting wise, probably not my best effort, but here goes.<br /><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2454/4005827458_95feabf187.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br /><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2578/4005063105_4570b71f64.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br /><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2618/4005827494_cfab03e971.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br /><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2569/4005827538_e2f02a39b3.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br /><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2661/4005063483_98093629ee.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br /><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2566/4005063419_a2d83f3cfc.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br /><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3449/4005063517_4e0a356684.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br /><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2669/4005063341_62523331b9.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br /><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2496/4005063371_4973ff6f29.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br /><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2652/4005827574_a41fe26786.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br />.<br />In the funny things department. The owner of Brooklyn Bowl, Peter Shapiro was standing next to me at one point yelling at Marc Brownstein for his attention. Marc, then walked over and mugged for his camera and I took one, too. Long story short, I send it to my friend, who sends it to Pete, who sends it to Brownie and now its his avatar on facebook.<br /><a href="http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=3867117&id=693052783" id="myphotolink"><img src="http://photos-g.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc1/hs257.snc1/10425_175870507783_693052783_3867165_3976634_n.jpg" id="myphoto" height="604" width="401" /></a><br />(you can see Pete's arm in the bottom left)gordonjerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01158598175171504955noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1091186931753523436.post-51222341312330188022009-10-16T07:44:00.000-07:002009-10-16T07:47:07.186-07:00Gov't Mule, Weeds, and MoreI had an interesting time last last Wednesday. Started off at at a Relix party to celebrate the release of their October issue. Free PBR Tallboys and an acoustic set by Charlie Mars and attended by his girlfriend Mary-Louise Parker whom I must have walked by half a dozen times and only noticed her little daughter and not her<br />From there I ran over to Brooklyn Bowl to catch the Govt. Mule cd release party. The place was maybe 3/4 full so there was plenty of places to move around and get some good shots. Plus the lights were really bright for most of the show and so I was able to switch back and forth from the primes to the zooms.<br />.<br /><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2540/3972375801_564c6acebe.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br /><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2454/3971542649_70325b4aa5.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br /><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3455/3971883981_43a7803ba7.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br /><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2439/3973144562_77f78e1c2e.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br /><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3441/3973144536_313fd39db1.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br /><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2624/3972652010_656d8d3a76.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br /><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2526/3973144580_788615e869.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br /><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2431/3971542889_25bd18afbd.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br />.<br />Hidden Track has a quick review up from the evening as well<br /><a href="http://www.glidemagazine.com/hiddentrack/picture-show-govt-mule-brooklyn-bowl/" target="_blank">http://www.glidemagazine.com/hiddent...brooklyn-bowl/</a>gordonjerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01158598175171504955noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1091186931753523436.post-83962072041535204492009-08-13T06:57:00.000-07:002009-08-13T07:00:10.809-07:00Gathering of the Vibes 2009So I got my first photo pass for the vibes this year and took over 1200 shots over 4 days and will probably be going through these for the rest of the summer. Festivals can be a bit exhausting as you spend most of your time on the go trying to run from stage to stage and catch the first three songs of each act, while keeping an eye out for good crowd shots and bikini hula hooping girls <img src="http://gatheringofthevibes.com/forum/images/smilies/2.gif" alt="" title="winkz" class="inlineimg" border="0" /><br />Anyways it was a lot of fun and I got to see a lot of good music close up, including Crosby, Stills, and Nash, that I never would have otherwise. Hope you enjoy the shots.<br />.<br /><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2468/3766487812_869589b155.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br /><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3424/3765995457_f51cb53a20.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br /><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2482/3762206365_0896437500.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br /><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2526/3762983953_19f02e8dc8.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br /><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2668/3763903470_652dcce574.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br /><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2628/3765375335_5075e3d63f.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br /><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2424/3769038655_c53f81b255.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br /><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3450/3769838396_272de5a819.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br /><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2616/3789834254_4c117bc7c7.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br /><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2663/3789834218_60c29ab7ac.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br /><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3474/3767908476_22eb3be329.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br /><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3488/3769838498_548139d079.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br /><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2435/3767109589_d0cde32649.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br /><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3523/3773314346_e57dd30523.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br /><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2543/3773080255_50e2007acd.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br /><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3573/3774613249_439ded3cdb.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br /><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2563/3775413604_e30ab48d6b.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br /><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2539/3775413598_525a355e80.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br /><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3553/3789023209_3baeab26de.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br /><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2428/3789834294_462d90540f.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br /><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2666/3789834328_d0fd6fb129.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br />.<br />Carla wrote up a review for each day for Hidden Track<br /><a href="http://www.glidemagazine.com/hiddentrack/gathering-of-the-vibes-day-four/" target="_blank">http://www.glidemagazine.com/hiddent...ibes-day-four/</a><br /><a href="http://www.glidemagazine.com/hiddentrack/gathering-of-the-vibes-day-three/" target="_blank">http://www.glidemagazine.com/hiddent...bes-day-three/</a><br /><a href="http://www.glidemagazine.com/hiddentrack/gathering-of-the-vibes-day-two/" target="_blank">http://www.glidemagazine.com/hiddent...vibes-day-two/</a><br />.<br />and here's a link to a few more shots<br /><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/gordonimages/sets/72157621739002497/" target="_blank">http://www.flickr.com/photos/gordoni...7621739002497/</a>gordonjerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01158598175171504955noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1091186931753523436.post-37185715924920188402009-07-31T06:19:00.000-07:002009-07-31T06:22:11.689-07:00Camp Bisco, Rain and ShineAlright I just finished up a good amount of shots from Camp Bisco.<br />.<br />We definitely had a good time and heard a ton of good music. I think however the mud got us down a bit and I definitely got worn out by the end. Just wrote this on the main board but I'd have to say a personal highlight was talking to Dr. Dog and K'naan. Carla struck up a conversation with one of the guys from Dr. Dog as we were waiting at the gates, apparently they were having problems getting clearance to bring their dog in <img src="http://www.gatheringofthevibes.com/forum/images/smilies/Classics/lol.gif" alt="" title="Lol" class="inlineimg" border="0" /><br />Then later after the Dr. Dog set, K'naan came over to talk to them and give them a few cds and I was able to get them to pose for a shot.<br /><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3516/3742291953_fccdd1b6ea.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br />.<br />K'naan is from Somalia and raps about it in a few of his songs. I have a friend who was involved with the U.S. task force sent there to try and deal with the warlords so I asked K'naan for his view on it and we talked for a little bit about it...<br />.<br />Clay Parnell (with Brothers Past and BioDiesel)<br /><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2526/3739361358_cce383cb27.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br /><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2457/3739733936_5b1d7ee6c6.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br /><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2444/3741037747_d279d87999.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br />.<br />K'naan<br /><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2565/3740299804_d1d5f8c709.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br /><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2483/3740299886_68bc5b7697.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br />.<br />Dr. Dog<br /><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2482/3739506021_f578032dd2.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br /><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3491/3740299642_ff98b4702b.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br />.<br />Younger Brother<br /><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2421/3741892270_564e1b945f.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br /><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2568/3742291733_bf64583149.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br /><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2571/3743084066_5d7563dd60.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br /><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2453/3744699358_1c5b19d4f6.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br />.<br />Nas and Damien Marley<br /><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2621/3743442158_b60451c875.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br />.<br />The Disco Biscuits<br /><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2468/3742758267_7be49af00d.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br />.<br />Jon Gutwillig in the rain<br /><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2527/3742758065_bd00d72e52.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br /><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2453/3742790069_9ae33a37b5.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br /><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2496/3738940239_75ee2842e3.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br />.<br />and the ladies of Camp Bisco<br /><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2676/3739505863_7ec1ae9b78.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br /><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3429/3739505775_5874283474.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br />.<br />and one that's not safe for work, if you click on the link, I'm sure you'll figure out which one it is<br /><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/gordonimages/sets/72157621741071866/" target="_blank">http://www.flickr.com/photos/gordoni...7621741071866/</a>gordonjerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01158598175171504955noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1091186931753523436.post-67869841932636805642009-07-13T10:23:00.000-07:002009-07-13T10:28:17.681-07:00moe. comes to Vasa ParkSo <a href="http://www.createavibe.com/">Create-a-Vibe</a> was kind enough to allow us to shoot moe. at Vasa Park.<br />It was a lovely day, with plenty of sunshine and of course lots of good friends. Nothing better than hanging out side stage with the whole Mexicali crew (former and present), just talking about everything while watching a good show <img src="http://www.gatheringofthevibes.com/forum/images/smilies/smiley.gif" alt="" title="smile" class="inlineimg" border="0" /><br />.<br />and if you're interested Carla Danca wrote a lovely post about the events, which you can read <a href="http://www.glidemagazine.com/hiddentrack/picture-show-moe-vasa-park/">here</a>.<br />.<br /><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2439/3695748459_ceebb6e21f.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br /><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2541/3695767091_84210026e7.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br /><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3449/3695766693_14b2759dec.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br /><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3445/3695767411_9d2d15eb6b.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br /><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3555/3695748501_9a95daa39c.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br />.<br /><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><a href="http://www.ryanmontbleauband.com/">Ryan Montbleau</a> who opened</span> sitting in on a lovely "The Harder They Come"<br /><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3494/3695748483_6684eb78d8.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br />.<br />You ask and you shall receive.<br /><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3556/3695748477_0a6bd2b703.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br /><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3577/3695748495_3d63e1bb93.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br /><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3596/3696577108_565ea96423.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br /><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2653/3695748475_720813ba5e.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br /><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3488/3698080538_5e015f1e82.jpg" alt="" border="0" />gordonjerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01158598175171504955noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1091186931753523436.post-49920108402309204122009-07-09T06:46:00.000-07:002009-07-09T06:51:04.925-07:00Brothers Past, Lotus, and the Disco Biscuits in A.C.So this past Thursday and Friday I got the chance to shoot <a href="http://www.brotherspast.com/tour.html">Brothers Past</a>, <a href="http://www.lotusvibes.com/splash/index.php">Lotus</a>, and the <a href="http://www.discobiscuits.com/">Disco Biscuits</a> in Atlantic City at the House of the Blues.<br />The music was fantastic, everyone had a great time, I had a chance to meet Barber and Brownie and chatted with Clay Parnell about trading Dead tapes back in the day <img src="http://www.gatheringofthevibes.com/forum/images/smilies/Classics/lol.gif" alt="" title="Lol" class="inlineimg" border="0" /><br />From a photography point of view, we didn't have pit access the first night due to a mis-communication with security, but luckily got it the second night in time for the Disco Biscuits. Lotus had some fantastic lighting, but unfortunately Brothers Past did not and I wasn't able to adjust my settings and flash to compensate.<br />Anyway enjoy <img src="http://www.gatheringofthevibes.com/forum/images/smilies/smiley.gif" alt="" title="smile" class="inlineimg" border="0" /><br />.<br />Tom Hamilton from Brothers Past<br /><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3393/3669415773_91234ef360.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br />.<br />Jesse Miller from Lotus<br /><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3570/3671185081_af9ac41ea5.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br />.<br />Mike Rempel<br /><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3640/3669415415_220fa8943f.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br />.<br /><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3404/3669415361_6b3cf329b3.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br />.<br /><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3413/3670599282_77d151d560.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br />.<br />Luke Miller<br /><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3406/3670222470_be8e449b33.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br />.<br /><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3634/3669415461_c29fe3b16a.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br />.<br /><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2489/3675031697_6e3dd5ac55.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br />.<br /><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3652/3675031689_bcbc14110b.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br />.<br />Disco Biscuits<br /><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3313/3670222028_e2da8db8d6.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br />.<br />Barber<br /><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2561/3670222526_f7e928dc45.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br />.<br />Aron Magner<br /><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2453/3670112841_f3b5435887.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br />.<br />Allen<br /><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3552/3670112807_fc15452f6a.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br />.<br />Brownie<br /><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2608/3670222124_f27a5400a3.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br />.<br />Aron underneath the UFO themed projections<br /><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3337/3672310796_079271cff2.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br />.<br /><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3637/3675031681_266d9603c9.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br />.<br />sidestage the final night.<br /><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2483/3670221946_67c301f5f6.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br /><br />I'll have a chance to catch Brothers Past and the Disco Biscuits next week at <a href="http://www.campbisco.net/09/">Camp Bisco 8</a> in Mariaville, NYgordonjerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01158598175171504955noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1091186931753523436.post-46758831504208081512009-07-07T10:00:00.000-07:002009-07-07T10:06:44.823-07:00Mountain Jam VWell I've got a ton more to go, but I might have to take a break for a bit on them. Anywhere here are a few of the shots from Mountain Jam. Lots of great music, a little bit of rain, and a whole lot of cold at night.<br />We had been promised a photo pass, but in the grand tradition of festivals none was there. Thankfully Carla wasn't gonna take no for an answer and we finally got them.<br />I also had the opportunity to get a few autographs from Marco Benevento, the guys of Tea Leaf Green, George Porter and Brian Stoltz.<br />I got a great story from Trevor about one of the shots I had taken of him. George Porter asked me to autograph one of my photos for him and Brian Stoltz not only liked the shots I had taken of him, but asked for four of my business/baseball cards he loved them so much.<br />.<br /><br /><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3393/3592861121_34cce30d3b.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br /><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3360/3611314562_36eec2ea68.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br /><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2456/3625902315_71ed0c5c4b.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br /><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3356/3608711705_2deb69158d.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br /><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3594/3610502165_a6848d5409.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br /><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3629/3611805672_295fd13264.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br /><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3343/3592861689_6ca9fe9755.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br /><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3658/3629248225_2bfd850e65.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br /><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3613/3629248159_aa1c1b4312.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br /><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3416/3629248185_dbfef307da.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br /><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3636/3626663136_445aa6ec75.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br /><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3590/3614704086_3b401b4f85.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br /><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2437/3614704158_e68260dd68.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br /><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3585/3613886287_60b6a66cb8.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br /><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2463/3617977282_9e62f9c5c1.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br /><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3386/3617977274_2ed010e5b3.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br /><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3327/3617977278_a6a22c380e.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br /><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3405/3593669118_4dde035da1.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br /><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2458/3593669234_0f9211aacc.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br /><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2442/3592861279_58d161cae2.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br /><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3307/3592861505_13ee3074e3.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br /><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3614/3592861829_45d7de8939.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br /><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3298/3593669720_e7744be346.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br /><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3661/3627287906_905ef327c7.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br /><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3402/3593669572_fa8fd0617e.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br /><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2477/3626473857_d0df55793a.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br /><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3586/3627287796_60f05e54e2.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br /><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3614/3592861829_45d7de8939.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br /><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3376/3641347852_bc1b8c30ff.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br /><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2472/3641347866_9754e6fdb0.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br /><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3249/3640538465_bb8947e368.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br /><div id="photoImgDiv3641609716" style="width: 502px;" class="photoImgDiv"> <img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2453/3641609716_0eac89ac9b.jpg?v=0" alt="PBS by you." title="" onload="show_notes_initially();" class="reflect" width="500" height="332" /></div><br />.<br />and I'll have more at some point, hope you enjoyed these.gordonjerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01158598175171504955noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1091186931753523436.post-8746482201825313192009-06-08T06:35:00.000-07:002009-06-09T18:58:07.634-07:00Phish at Jones Beach<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3628/3602328356_e6a7a6271a.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 332px; height: 500px;" src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3628/3602328356_e6a7a6271a.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br /><br />I was at Mountain Jam last week, when I got the news. I had asked my editor to put in for either the Thursday or Friday <a href="http://www.phish.com/">Phish</a> shows at Jones Beach, hoping with a little luck to get one, instead I found out they had confirmed both! As it goes, this is easily the largest venue I have ever been at over 15,000 people. Another personal fact about the venue, is my first job working in New York City was for the architect <a href="http://www.jlgordon.com/">Jack L. Gordon</a> . JLGA was the architect of record for the expansion of the 2nd level at Jones Beach back in the early 90's and I would often see photos of the venue when working on projects and presentations in the office.<br />So with expectations high we got to the lot early on Thursday afternoon, eager to see old friends, walk through lot, and enjoy the carnival-like atmosphere of Shakedown Street. It was wonderful, fans hawking t-shirts, crystals, beers, sodas, red bulls, grilled meat of every kind, even the ellusive Trey Anastasio bobblehead doll.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://images.dailyradar.com/media/uploads/showhype/story_preview/2009/04/27/win_a_trey_anastasio_bobblehead.gif"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 140px; height: 140px;" src="http://images.dailyradar.com/media/uploads/showhype/story_preview/2009/04/27/win_a_trey_anastasio_bobblehead.gif" alt="" border="0" /></a><br />I also had a chance to visit with an old friend and artist Jon "<a href="http://www.crazyredbeard.com/crb/">Crazyredbeard</a>" Blake who had just finished his latest painting based on the music of Phish from the famous reunion shows at Hampton, VA.<br />Soon enough though it was time to head on over to the side entrance and await instructions from our Livenation contact. The rules, no pit, just the front of an aisle for the four photographers to squeeze into, three songs, and absolutely no photos of the crowd (due to legal reasons). Of course with Phish 3-songs can last anywhere from 15-45 minutes depending on their song choice)<br />Luckily however they started off with an acapella Grind allowing us a chance to shoot the guys standing all together as an intimate shot.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3591/3598540284_2da02de37f.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 500px; height: 332px;" src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3591/3598540284_2da02de37f.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2455/3597703891_2f2a543630.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 500px; height: 332px;" src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2455/3597703891_2f2a543630.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br />.<br />another lucky break as the contact for Livenation decided not to count this song against us, so we still had three more songs to go!<br />So then it was a series of working on a close up for each of the guys. For Page and Fishman, this meant getting a clear shot of their heads from 30' away and for Trey and Mike trying to get shots of them singing and jamming and hopefully capture a Trey "orgasm face" in the process.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3336/3598540050_3bf217d853.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 500px; height: 332px;" src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3336/3598540050_3bf217d853.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2429/3597734163_fc989231d3.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 500px; height: 332px;" src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2429/3597734163_fc989231d3.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3629/3597734313_3a66c0dfb7.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 500px; height: 332px;" src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3629/3597734313_3a66c0dfb7.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br /><img src="file:///C:/DOCUME%7E1/jeremy/LOCALS%7E1/Temp/moz-screenshot.jpg" alt="" /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3663/3597734257_b2ea15c1e4.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 500px; height: 332px;" src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3663/3597734257_b2ea15c1e4.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3604/3598540228_1ac9f1dfe7.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 500px; height: 332px;" src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3604/3598540228_1ac9f1dfe7.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br />well some things you get and some you miss, but you keep trying (I also need to look back and see if there's any other shots I can salvage)<br />But we got the signal it was time to go. Nicely enough it was time to pack our cameras and head out, but I was able to sneak a few from the crowd and got these this shot.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3639/3598540490_691c9fd030.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 500px; height: 332px;" src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3639/3598540490_691c9fd030.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br />The problem of course with long shots is you never know what you are going to get. Was the band in focus? Were they blown out? Did you get any crowd in that shot, or are they showing up completely black?<br />Friday night was more of the same, except we switched isles to Fishman's side and it was raining. Constantly raining, with over an inch of standing water in the front rows. Basically what this meant was every time you went to switch lenses they got wet and every time the lights shown on them they flared up. On top of that, I no longer had an angle on Fishman, as he was now directly behind the drum kit from my angle and now we were actually farther away from Page, with no better angle on him. So I decided to focus on the long group shots, doing my best to get the whole band and the lights in one shot.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3317/3601514693_971e02f819.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 500px; height: 332px;" src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3317/3601514693_971e02f819.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br />.<br />throw in a few closeups of Trey and Mike again<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2484/3601514653_e736eabe71.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 332px; height: 500px;" src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2484/3601514653_e736eabe71.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3599/3602328436_de41759344.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 332px; height: 500px;" src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3599/3602328436_de41759344.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br />and then it was time to hustle up to the upper levels before the sun completely set and grab a shot of the crowd in the venue.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3334/3602328458_7aa54fd6c0.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 500px; height: 332px;" src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3334/3602328458_7aa54fd6c0.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br />The sun went down and I got a long shot of Fishman on the vacuum cleaner<br /><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3629/3601514771_61e1184606.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br />.<br />and a nice long shot to end the night<br /><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2428/3606587109_18db1a4004.jpg" alt="" border="0" /><br />.<br />as I keep trying for that "A thousand barefoot children outside dancing on my lawn" shot.<br />.<br />all the reviews from Hidden Track are located here.<br /><a href="http://www.glidemagazine.com/hiddentrack/review-phish-jones-beach-night-2/" target="_blank">http://www.glidemagazine.com/hiddent...beach-night-2/</a><br /><a href="http://www.glidemagazine.com/hiddentrack/jones-beach-night-3-setlist/" target="_blank">http://www.glidemagazine.com/hiddent...ght-3-setlist/</a><br />.<br />This week we're gonna try and get some rest and get caught up on Mountain Jam photos and thank yous and emails and actually go to a show without the camera.<br />Eric Clapton and Steve Winwood at the Izod Center, should be nicegordonjerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01158598175171504955noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1091186931753523436.post-85401380915217404482009-05-24T09:35:00.000-07:002009-05-24T10:55:38.558-07:00Duff McKagan, Loaded, and the Spider Rockets<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3560/3555563306_208d707193.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 500px; height: 332px;" src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3560/3555563306_208d707193.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br /><br />So lets see, moving in a completely different direction, I had a chance to photograph former Guns N Roses bassist Duff McKagan last week at the Blender Theater in NYC. He put on a very nice show with his band Loaded, mostly did their own songs, but also threw in a "It's So Easy" and finished with a nice medley of Iggy and the Stooges, ZZ Top, ACDC, and the Rolling Stones "Wild Horses"..<br /><br />Most of the shots were taken with the Nikon 85 1.8 and 50 1.8, with a few taken with the Tamron 17-50 2.8. Stayed at 1600 ISO for most of the show, but was able to get it down into the 1000 range a few times. No photo pit, so moving around was a bit tough, but the band did enough of it to make it easy to get shots from more than a few angles.<br />btw have I mentioned how much I love the lighting at this venue, freaks me out that Live Nation is trying to sell it or close it.<br /><br />Here's a few shots I managed to get of the opening bands<br />.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3349/3554726029_918580151d.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 500px; height: 332px;" src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3349/3554726029_918580151d.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br />.<br />Spider Rockets (based in New Jersey)<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3574/3554906578_d3bc2af23b.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 500px; height: 332px;" src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3574/3554906578_d3bc2af23b.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3588/3554906550_532a8f5f3d.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 332px; height: 500px;" src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3588/3554906550_532a8f5f3d.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3301/3554906606_d449823fc1.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 500px; height: 332px;" src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3301/3554906606_d449823fc1.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br /><br />and of course Duff.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3324/3552469386_0accb20d5b.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 500px; height: 332px;" src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3324/3552469386_0accb20d5b.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3583/3555584332_63f996fd49.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 332px; height: 500px;" src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3583/3555584332_63f996fd49.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3302/3548730863_39dcd1a46a.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 332px; height: 500px;" src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3302/3548730863_39dcd1a46a.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3347/3549206650_70b03b4caa.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 332px; height: 500px;" src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3347/3549206650_70b03b4caa.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br />.<br />there's a few more <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/gordonimages/sets/72157618538916976/">here</a>.<br /><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/gordonimages/sets/72157618538916976/"></a><br />.<br />Spider Rockets have already posted a few of the shots on their <a href="http://viewmorepics.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewPicture&friendID=56620344&albumId=1367394">myspace </a><br /><a href="http://viewmorepics.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewPicture&friendID=56620344&albumId=1367394"></a><br /><br />and hopefully these will be up on <a href="http://www.thewaster.com/MAIN/HOME.html">thewaster.com</a> in the near future. Its actually become a bit of a tradition for us to go wandering and shooting and be able to talk now that we both live on opposite sides of the country. Here's a few shots from the day. These are all done as HDR's. The one above was a one shot taken a bit to the extreme, while the ones below are multiple exposures. Its always a bit hard trying to find something to balance the camera on and keep it steady for the 4-6 shots, but somehow it works out in the end.<br /><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/gordonimages/3082629284/" title="Lake Pocotopaug-4 by gordonjer, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3144/3082629284_744f2c5623_m.jpg" alt="Lake Pocotopaug-4" width="240" height="159" /></a><br /><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/gordonimages/3081826594/" title="Lake Pocotopaug-3 by gordonjer, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3246/3081826594_57ceaf7c47_m.jpg" alt="Lake Pocotopaug-3" width="240" height="158" /></a><br /><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/gordonimages/3063748875/" title="Lake Pocotopaug-2 by gordonjer, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3189/3063748875_05727345e2_m.jpg" alt="Lake Pocotopaug-2" width="240" height="159" /></a>gordonjerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01158598175171504955noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1091186931753523436.post-85796153503851010872008-11-23T07:48:00.000-08:002008-12-02T11:47:45.842-08:00Rover RIP<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/gordonimages/3053287772/" title="RIP Rover by gordonjer, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3284/3053287772_d18cc5fc02.jpg" width="500" height="333" alt="RIP Rover" /></a><br />Earlier this week, our vaunted friend (and sometimes enemy) left us this week. He was one of the original denizens of our loft at TFP (Top Floor Productions) on the edge of Bed-Stuy at 206 Classon Avenue. It was a 7,000 sqft loft, that was dirty, unheated, and had an odd shower contraption that sometimes didn't work in the winter, but it was a great place filled with lots of memories, video games, nights at the pool table, basketball games (that almost always ended in some sort of fight) jam sessions, and good times. Rover almost didn't make it past the first few weeks when he was brought into the loft and had to be hand fed, but he made it and outlasted even his brother who mysteriously disappeared one day. Ironically enough Rover finally got to live the good life in an actually heated apartment (as 206 Classon Ave was cleared to make way for glass and metal condos) but never quite adjusted. Rover was 13 years old when he died. Here's a few shots of him and the other friends from TFP who knew him.<br /><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/gordonimages/2096890744/" title="a-john by gordonjer, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2289/2096890744_c60b901e5d_m.jpg" width="240" height="160" alt="a-john" /></a><br /><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/gordonimages/2137271566/" title="DSC_0167 by gordonjer, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2244/2137271566_4f81e47f69_m.jpg" width="240" height="160" alt="DSC_0167" /></a><br /><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/gordonimages/433743192/" title="Andrew by gordonjer, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm1.static.flickr.com/150/433743192_940e6f5962_m.jpg" width="166" height="240" alt="Andrew" /></a>gordonjerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01158598175171504955noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1091186931753523436.post-5012687403097795042008-11-17T05:54:00.001-08:002008-11-17T05:54:33.742-08:00Fun at FIT<div>I had a shoot scheduled with one of my favorite models for Thursday but unfortunately it was a bit rainy and forced us indoors. I think Chad was right on when he says this is far from a Duo side project anymore. Sunday night was a great time with the impromptu sound check bonus set and a great 2 hour long set. While Marco brings a totally unique sound to the acoustic piano via his myriad of toys, Reed and Fishman were far from lost in the mix complementing each other throughout night. My only photo related comment is that due to the amazing visuals being projected over Fishman's head it was hard to get good contrast and now I have gotten all 4 members of PHISH to complete my collection<br /><br /><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/gordonimages/3021779539/" title="Marco Benevento-1 by gordonjer, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3280/3021779539_e1eeac4413_m.jpg" width="240" height="159" alt="Marco Benevento-1" /></a><br /><br /><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/gordonimages/3021779521/" title="Reed Mathis-1 by gordonjer, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3023/3021779521_23d6fc9948_m.jpg" width="240" height="159" alt="Reed Mathis-1" /></a><br /><br /><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/gordonimages/3021779547/" title="Marco Benevento-2 by gordonjer, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3202/3021779547_b82c79b988_m.jpg" width="240" height="159" alt="Marco Benevento-2" /></a><br /><br /><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/gordonimages/3021779515/" title="Jon Fishman-1 by gordonjer, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3269/3021779515_c1da536ec6_m.jpg" width="240" height="159" alt="Jon Fishman-1" /></a>gordonjerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01158598175171504955noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1091186931753523436.post-74305468905140506712008-11-10T19:37:00.000-08:002008-11-10T20:16:31.797-08:00The Benevento TrioLast night I left behind HBO and Entourage to check out The Benevento Trio - with Marco Benevento (the Duo), Redd Mathis (Tea Leaf Green/JFJO) and Jon Fishman (PHISH) at Mexicali Blues Cafe in Teaneck NJ. Now the Highline is a great new spot for shows, don't get me wrong but unlike most of the other venues of this size (holds about 700) they don't have a "pit" area up front so getting a good shot takes planning, patience and a strong bladder! Unfortunately I wasn't able to make it into Derek Trucks at the same venue last night however as they were sold out as well and I was running late it was probably for the best<br /><br /><a href="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3233/2977613741_b05d126e93_m.jpg"><img style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 240px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 159px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3233/2977613741_b05d126e93_m.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><div><a href="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3005/2978471044_e1445308b1_m.jpg"><img style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 240px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 159px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3005/2978471044_e1445308b1_m.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><div><a href="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3183/2977613591_e91fe32827_m.jpg"><img style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 240px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 144px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3183/2977613591_e91fe32827_m.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br /><div></div></div></div>gordonjerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01158598175171504955noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1091186931753523436.post-52330876676790985572008-11-06T06:08:00.000-08:002008-11-06T06:16:16.663-08:00Apollo Sunshine<a href="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3251/3002965332_bc8238285a_m.jpg"><img style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 159px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3251/3002965332_bc8238285a_m.jpg" border="0" /></a> This image is from another Halloween show that I shot last week - the band is Apollo Sunshine and this was billed as a Hendrix Experience show - however despite the full costume all show you had to wait until the encore to finally see some "Jimmy".... It was sent to me by a high school friend of mine back in August of 2006 who had been working at the US Embassy in Kenya.<br />His wife (Carey) had gotten into a major car accident and was still healing from a broken wrist, ankle, and headwounds. The van she had been riding in was hit by a taxi head on and there were fatalities.<br />My buddy wrote about a party where he had met some of the major government officials in Kenya and one US Senator who was visiting his father's homeland. He ended the email with the comment<br /><em><br />"Nice to know that the Junior Senator from Illinois (and future President) cares."</em><br />.<br />Looks like today, only two years later might be the day that he was talking about.gordonjerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01158598175171504955noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1091186931753523436.post-36489710125822283862008-11-03T11:43:00.000-08:002008-11-04T16:45:00.442-08:00New Moe. dates<img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; width: 240px; height: 140px; text-align: center;" alt="" src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3200/2836813996_239c04bf42_m.jpg" border="0" />Moe announced a 6 show run (including 2 Valentine's Dates in NYC)....apparently their hiatus was over before I finished getting the $210 ticket up in Turin, NY paid (apparently a complete stop in upstate is a bit different than down in the city) .<br /><br />For every show I try and shoot I always try and get the one shot that encompasses the feeling of the festival. All weekend long I was trying out different angles and lenses and finally it was during the walk down the ski mountain with some friends that this couple lounging about enjoying the day and the music coming from the stages caught my eye. I still don't know if I got quite the image I was looking for but it made a great lead shot for the story on Hidden Track.<br /><br /><a href="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3055/2820892643_906a44c484_m.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; width: 240px; height: 159px; text-align: center;" alt="" src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3055/2820892643_906a44c484_m.jpg" border="0" /></a> <img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; width: 159px; height: 240px; text-align: center;" alt="" src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3256/2828849442_dc067eeefe_m.jpg" border="0" /><br />for more shots and info check out www.glidemagazine.com/hiddentrack/picture-show-moedown-9-snow-ridge and http://flickr.com/photos/gordonimages/sets/72157607070603318/gordonjerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01158598175171504955noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1091186931753523436.post-39817218156024241832008-11-02T16:51:00.000-08:002008-11-02T17:35:34.579-08:00Electron - 10/30/08 Highline BallroomWhile Friday night's Halloween show was sold out weeks in advance I was able to get into the Electron show on Thursday night. Future Rock opened the night and Electron (Aron Magner and Marc Brownstein of The Disco Biscuits, Joe Russo of The Duo and Tom Hamilton of Brothers Past). The crowd was filled with your normal assorted Bisco kids but also a few early Halloween freaks.<br /><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3045/2996806163_3df77616b1_m.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 240px; height: 159px;" src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3045/2996806163_3df77616b1_m.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3136/2988720187_b1c3b811a2_m.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 159px;" src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3136/2988720187_b1c3b811a2_m.jpg" border="0" alt="" /></a><br />There isn't a pit at the Highline which I was painfully aware of after JJ Grey & MOFRO. I had to make my move for a spot on the rail during the stage change so I was happy when Tom Hamilton walked up right in front of me. <br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3136/2996676059_7dfc080f24_m.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 240px; height: 159px;" src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3136/2996676059_7dfc080f24_m.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3005/2997600682_2efef11ebe_m.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 159px; height: 240px;" src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3005/2997600682_2efef11ebe_m.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3012/2997614918_9f2c211c54_m.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 240px; height: 159px;" src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3012/2997614918_9f2c211c54_m.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a>gordonjerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01158598175171504955noreply@blogger.com0
